Stop Hate Crime
Where you can get help if you have been the victim of a hate crime or incident
Stop Hate UK is a UK wide organisation where people can talk about any hate crime or hate incident which they have been the target of.
A hate incident is any kind of negative behaviour that is perceived by the victim or anyone else to be based on prejudice or hate of any member belonging to a minority group such as racial heritage, religion or beliefs, disability, gender identity or sexual orientation.
A hate crime is any hate incident, which constitutes a criminal offence.
All incidences of transphobia are classed as either hate incidences or hate crimes.
To report a hate crime or incident please call 0808 801 0661 for an LGBT related hate crime/incident (or 0800 138 1625 for other types of hate crimes). If you are hard of hearing or deaf then you can call 18001 0800 138 1625 for a text relay
If you prefer not to talk in person either because you wish to remain anonymous or you might find it very traumatic to talk about, then Stop Hate has a text number you can use at 07717 989 025. Call charges will apply from either a landline or a mobile phone if you use this number.
If you would prefer contact via email, then you can email them at email@example.com
They also have an online chat box where you can chat interactively with an advisor. This is available at http://www.stophateuk.org/talk/
You may also use their contact form as a means of reporting the hate crime. Their contact form is available at http://www.stophateuk.otg/tell/
Finally you have their last means of contacting them – which by post. Please write to:-
Stop Hate UK, PO Box 484, Leeds LS7 9BZ
Please include your postal address if you want this hate crime to be followed up. Stop Hate UK will act as a hate crime reporting centre and they will liaise with the police force in your area. If you do not include your name and address, it will be reported to the police but no action can be taken – but the hate crime will be logged.
