Transfigurations – An E-learning Resource

An E-learning kit for parents, teachers and other professionals who care for transgender children and adolescents

Gires (the Gender Identity Research and Education Society) is a volunteer operated membership charity that, in collaboration with the other groups in its field, hears, helps, empowers and gives a voice to trans and gender non-conforming individuals, including those who are non-binary and non-gender, as well as their families.

The Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP) and the Gender Identity Research and Education Society (GIRES) have jointly developed an e-learning kit to help teachers or people in the medical profession understand the needs of transgender or gender nonconforming children and adolescents and how to safeguard and care for them.  SABP and GIRES have also printed leaflets for:-

  • Young people
  • Families
  • Information and signposting
  • Professionals

If you wish to receive a supply of any of those leaflets to use in your own work and to publicise the e-learning resource, please contact: or telephone us on 01372 801554.

The resource provides an optional test, as well as a certificate of completion that enables users to earn CPD points. The resource can be accessed at:
